OUR STORY

I’m Carlo, the owner of Masseria Specula, a historic farmhouse in Puglia, Southern Italy. As a child, I explored the Apulian countryside and old masserias, drawn to their heritage and timeless charm. Among them was Masseria Specula, dating back to 1611, set on a hill with views of the Ionian Sea. In 2023, I restored this masseria with respect for its history, using original materials and family heirlooms. Today, it offers a peaceful retreat in Puglia, surrounded by olive groves and authentic rural landscapes.

At Masseria Specula, our mission is to create a sustainable retreat in Puglia that respects both nature and tradition. We minimise our environmental impact by powering the masseria with solar energy, avoiding single-use plastics, and planting trees every winter to offset carbon emissions. We also keep beehives on our land, supporting local pollination, biodiversity, and the health of the Apulian countryside.
